It was my first marathon doing doubles and it was definitely great. A total whole new experience as I learned and gained many things out of it. Wells, winning the medal is a bonus. Most importantly, we gave in our best and completed the race with no regrets.
Initially, when we heard that there were 27 boats in our category, we feared that we won't make the mark. Still, we set a target to come in top 5, we aimed and we achieved it. I'm so glad that I have such a wonderful partner, Evangeline Liew, behind me and never give up on me til the very end. Cliche but I would like to say that she is the best partner I ever have. So many races that we have went through, this is probably the best race. THANK YOU JELLY.
SCM 2010 will be my last race and also marks the end of my 3 years journey in NYP Sprint Kayak Team. It ended well and with satisfaction of course. Honestly, some part of me can't part with the team but in life, we must learn to move on. One batch leaves and another batch comes. The best thing is, I have such an awesome batch of team mates and not forgetting the captain. Truth is, friends and team mates are the reason to why we are still in the team.
Thus, I am going to keep these bitter sweet memories into my memory box, never to be erase nor forgotten as they are what keeps me going for the past 3 years. Be it running a marathon or in my studies, I have learn to push myself even harder and gives it a good fight. True, great deal of time and effort have been spent in Kayaking and with the team, but I have never regret joining the team in the very first place.
Training may be tough but think, isn't that what bond us and shape us into a better person? We train together, race together, cry together, and laugh together. From the start when we have decided to commit ourselves in this sports, we have form a team and become great team mates and friends. This kind of bond doesn't come easily. At the end of the day, it is about the moments shared with the team that matters most.
Shall end it with the team cheer.
